Huge reserves of coal, oil and natural gas await exploitation. NLC’s initiative and a new model of management have attracted international and national companies towards these new frontiers. Pakistan also happens to be one of the most suitable regions for solar catchments, which makes it a promising venue for major solar energy related projects.

The country’s economy is growing at the rate of steady 7%. As the economy grows so do the country’s energy needs. Currently, Pakistan’s demand for electric power is 3000 Megawatts more than its production. With the passage of time, this difference is expected to increase. Similarly, oil imports are rising causing loss of foreign exchange. NLC keeping its traditions of quantum solution provider has been able to provide solutions in the energy sector, as well.

 


NLC Energy Company has been formed to tap in to the energy reserves that have been untouched hitherto. The Federal government has set up Thar Coal Mining Company private Limited to exploit coal reserves in Thar area. These reserves are estimated to be around 185 billion tons. NLC is 20% equity partner in this company. International companies are enthusiastically responding to NLC’s invitation to join it in the Thar Coal mining & IPP projects
