Sub Theme-1

In addition to its assured benefits for the people of Pakistan, CPEC has been rightly celebrated as a “game changer” due to its promise of transformed regional connectivity and shared economic development. While regional connectivity can, in and of itself, act as an engine for shared growth, a healthy and balanced regional trading culture multiplies its potential.
Despite unprecedented geo-political convergences, Pak-China trade has been heavily lopsided in favour of the latter. A meaningful improvement in Pakistan’s potential to reap the desired dividend from Chinese partnership in general and CPEC in particular will depend on our capacity to improve bilateral trade picture through reformative steps in terms of expansion of industrial base, development of skilled human resource, reliable energy supplies and an overall trade-friendly culture.
In the above context, there is a need to analyze various ways and options to improve regional trade in general and Pak-China bilateral trade in particular.
