TRANSPORTATION AND CROSS BORDER MOVEMENT

  1. Shifting of supply chain trend from fulfilling a Consumer demand to Consumer expectation has necessitated intermodal cross border movement of goods, thus posing a real challenge to logistics and transportation companies along with facilitating the trade. Gearing up of Transport Fleet to undertake such enormous task needs foresightedness and abundant resources by Fleet Operators besides requisite flexibility in order to accrue maximum benefits. Moreover, there is a need to synergize with International & Regional Trade Agreements and road conventions like QTTA, FTA, CAREC and TIR etc. This scenario presents a host of opportunities and challenges for logistics sector in order to find a way out involving all stakeholders.
  2. Foregoing in view, there is a need to discuss changes required in existing cross border movement of cargo and transport agreements / conventions to facilitate and enhance the trade. Transport Sector also needs to be upgraded along with a new national policy to meet the future challenges of transportation.
