|
NLC has completed construction of Quaid-i-Azam Interchange on Lahore Ring Road and GT Road Intersection. The Interchange will benefit thousands of commuters of the Northern Lahore and adjacent settlements by providing easy access to Allama Iqbal International Airport, cantonment area and interior of the city. The Interchange provides direct link to Wahga Border and would play an important role in facilitating regional trade in times to come.

Major
General Junaid Rehmat assumes office of DG NLC |

|
| |
|
Major General Junaid Rehmat has assumed the charge
of the office of Director General, National Logistics
Cell.
Commissioned in the Corps of Engineers, the General
Officer has a vast experience of Command, Staff and
Instructional assignments and has held important positions
throughout his illustrious military career. Major
General Junaid Rehmat is the graduate of Military
College of Engineering, Command and Staff College
Quetta and National Defence University Islamabad.
Prior to his posting as DG NLC, he was serving as
Director General Works and Chief Engineer (Army) at
the General Headquarters.

Logistics
Pakistan Exhibition was held on 29 Oct 2009 at Sheraton
Hotel Karachi. Leading companies in the field of logistics
had set up stalls in the exhibition including KPT, DHL,
DP World, APL Logistics, PIA Cargo etc in the one day
exhibition organized by the Dawn Group. The stall set
up by the National Logistics Cell attracted large number
of stakeholders and general public where they were briefed
about the pivotal role being played by NLC for the growth

Re-construction
of Roads having a combined length of 30.25 KMs |

Logistics Cell and Punjab Highway department would re-construct
20 roads, having a combined length of 30.25 km in the
area administrated by Rawalpindi Cantonment Board and
Chaklala Cantonment Board. |

NLC, Pakistani Delegation Visit Afghanistan:
Reviews work on NLC projects. |

8-12th October: |
Director General National Logistics Cell (NLC) Major
General Imtiaz Ahmed accompanied a high level Pakistani
delegation led by Lt Gen (R) Muhammad Zubair, Member
Planning Commission, visited Afghanistan from 8 -12
Oct 09 and inspected various projects being funded
by the Government of Pakistan. NLC is executing five
mega projects worth Rs.2738 million in health and
education sectors in Afghanistan. These projects include
construction of Allama Iqbal Faculty of Arts Kabul
University, 200-bed Jinnah Hospital at Kabul, Nishtar
Kideny Centre Jalalabad, Nangrahar University Jalalabad
and Liaqat Ali Khan Engineering Faculty Block at Mazar-e-Sharif.
On arrival at Kabul Airport, the delegation was received
by Engineer Shahid Mahmood, Director Afghan Projects
and Mr Farman Ullah, Regional Manager. The members
of the delegation visited Liaqat Ali Khan Engineering
Faculty Block Bulkh University where they were given
detailed briefing on various aspects of the project.
The delegation was informed the project would be completed
by at priority. Lt Gen (R) Muhammad Zubair and members
of the delegation visited Allama Iqbal Faculty of
Arts Kabul University. It is the first mega project
completed by NLC in the difficult environments of
Afghanistan. This building is regarded as a symbol
of brotherly relationship between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
The delegation appreciated the quality and standard
of work. The delegation also visited under construction
Jinnah Hospital and reviewed progress on projects.
While talking informally to the engineers and construction
workers, Major General Imtiaz Ahmed said that the
development works undertaken by the government of
Pakistan has created tremendous amount of goodwill
among the government and people of Afghanistan. He
stressed the need for further hard work and dedication
to ensure quality work in all respects. He said that
the projects, once completed, would not only enhance
the education and health facilities but also further
improve the existing brotherly relationship among
the people of the two countries. The delegation also
called on Governor Bulkh province, Minister of Public
Works, Minister for Higher Education, Deputy Ministers
of Education and Deputy Health Ministers. The Afghan
dignitaries appreciated the valuable contributions
being made by Government of Pakistan for the rebuilding
and rehabilitation of Afghanistan.

Participation in NDMA Exhibition |

8-10th October: |
The stall set up by the National Logistics Cell (NLC)
was declared first in the three day Disaster Management
Exhibition organized by National Disaster Management
Authority (NDMA) at Convention Centre, Islamabad,
from 08th to 10th Oct 2009.Around 50 national and
multinational organizations had installed their stalls
in the exhibition showcasing equipments and gadgets
used in the event of disaster and emergencies.These
organizations also pictorially highlighted their contributions
during October 5, devastating earthquake. NLC the
logistics crisis management organization had also
highlighted their otherwise less known contribution
in the earthquake through tastefully decorated pictures
of its engineers and transport fleet on their stall
that attracted large crowd during the exhibition.

Lahore-Multan
road project awarded to NLC |

10th
August: |
NLC has been recently awarded 11.2 km Lahore-Multan
road project with a cost of Rs. 7.5 billion. The project
comprises three phases i.e from Thokar Niaz Beg to
Multan Chungi, from Multan Chungi to Scheme More and
from Scheme More to Chaburgi. Each project comprises
3.8 kilometers of road with a completion period of
ten months. The project comprises of one Overhead
Bridge and Underpass. Inauguration ceremony was held
at site of Second phase from Multan Chungi to Scheme
More on 09th Aug 2009. It is worth mentioning that
NLC has successfully completed Sagian Interchange
project in a record period of five months and within
earmarked budget. Sagian interchange was inaugurated
by Chief Minister Punjab, Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif
on 31 July 2009, who appreciated the standard of works
and speedy completion of the project.
