NLC sponsors seminar on Regional Connectivity

The National Logistics Cell (NLC) sponsored a two-day international seminar titled “Trade & Connectivity: Western Neighbourhood” at the Institute for Strategic Studies, Research and Analysis (ISSRA), National Defence University (NDU) from January 24-25, 2023.

In-person and digitally participating speakers and panelists included Ambassadors from Turkiye, Iran, and Central Asian countries, the Director of Transport Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), representatives from TIR (International Road Transport), local and foreign businessmen and CEOs, Educators, Analysts and Thinkers.

The aim of the seminar was to explore ways to diversify Pakistan's foreign policy options, with a particular focus on geo-economics, and expanding the country’s outreach towards its western neighbourhood. The discussions were centered around regional connectivity, including its challenges and the way forward. The speakers unanimously agreed that the sustainable development of the entire region is inextricably linked to market integration, where regional connectivity plays a pivotal role.

On the second day of the seminar, the discussion was dedicated to a round table that focused on the operational aspects of regional connectivity, and participants from all segments of the business community actively took part. The seminar concluded on a high note, with distinguished speakers from diverse backgrounds coming together to discuss crucial issues that are fundamental to regional connectivity and trade.
